mkmap is a mashup using the Google map API. It allows you to do a bunch of things with maps: explore, create, share and collaborate.

• Explore different categories of map (thematic e.g. http://mkmap.com/architecture, city e.g.: http://mkmap.com/dublin or country)
• Explore the different points of interest (restaurant, museum, etc) and transport network (bus, subway, tram) of a place (e.g. http://mkmap.com/dublin, http://mkmap.com/new_york)
• See pictures, read reviews and watch videos for the points of interest (e.g. http://mkmap.com/architecture has a couple of pictures for the different points of interest)
• Search for a specific point of interest via keywords/street name/POI category
• It is possible to create different kinds of map, public (thematic, city or country) or private (for personal use e.g. for an event, trip or just for yourself: http://mkmap.com/johnDoe)
• The maps can be created using a specific zoom level by default (allowing different "thematic" map scales, from mapping around your house to a worldwide map)
• With mkmap's tiny urls, it is easy to remember and share a map
• It is possible to embed a map in another website
• Anybody can submit new content (routes, POIs, reviews, pictures and videos) without having to register
• The founder of a map can review submitted content prior to online diffusion.
