Introducing NEO Binaries’ guest Bloggers
Tuesday, May 08, 2007
Social Bookmark thisClick to Social Bookmark-sandip

NEO Binaries is pleased to announce that we are introducing three Guest Bloggers on our site. In the last week or so you may have noticed articles by ‘new’ faces. Yes, Ankit Dangi and Amit Mendelsohn have already got the meter ticking over here at NEO Binaries by posting their inaugural blog posts. That leaves Vikrant Sharma to get into the act.

Our bloggers are a varied package of an experienced Internet veteran with a no-holds barred attitude and a couple of enthusiastic students of web technology. They will blog about web-based applications and services, new and established ones, give you their take on them and introduce new services and applications on the planning board.

We had announced earlier in a post inviting our readers to apply for the post of Guest bloggers and this is our first batch of writers. With these additions to the team we will offer more frequent and timely updates on all happenings in the web applications world.

That’s me your new expert

A new blog requires acknowledgment. So here it is, even though many of you have been visiting one or more of my sites i am connected to directly or indirectly, but you never knew it's me. I have been here too long so you probably stepped on my toe at least once.

Writing blogs isn't really an easy mission however this blog is quite specific therefore it will be easier for me. But why should you read it?  Because I have been here from the beginning, oh yes the beginning of the web... not the web 2.0, the web itself, with a snail as a modem paying a fortune to the telecom as well as to an ISP that has been swallowed later... 23 years online, almost 30 years dealing with computers, developer of hardware, software, websites, application. Consultant for Web 2.0 websites. CTO, CFO, COO and many other OO's. And a columnist (mostly in Hebrew and Engish). Owner of the biggest TV portal online Videowebgate today, and several other sites, and the list is long, so is the CV (I guess that's why nobody reads it :-) ).

But we must remind you that these are only for applications listed at NEO Binaries. If you think any application has been missed out, please do post in the forums or add your comment here directly.

So congratulations are in order. Dailymotion it is.

This time last year

Social Bookmark thisClick to Social Bookmark-sandip

It was on April 12th, 2006 that NEO Binaries was launched. To get you as nostalgic and sentimental as we are, here is a list of few selected applications that were published during the first frantic yet exciting week.

Remember the time…?

Simpy

Simpy is a social bookmarking service. You can save, tag and search your own bookmarks and notes or browse and search other users' links and tags. You can be open and share your links with others, or keep them private.

Netvibes

Netvibes is yet another personalized AJAX start page, perhaps one of the first. The slickly designed homepage is light, uses subtle colors and seems intuitive enough. IF you are into personalized homepages give this one a shot.

Gliffy

Gliffy is a unique web app that allows one to draw & share diagrams right through the browser itself. You can easily draw flow charts, diagrams, website layouts, floor plans, seating charts, etc.

Zoho Writer

Zoho Writer as the name suggests is an online Word processor. Imagine it to be your Microsoft Word on the internet. There is absolutely no installation required or configuration from your side. Get a login and write!

ThinkFree Office

Have you ever wanted to show your colleagues a presentation on a PC not equipped with Powerpoint? Want to add the interactivity of spreadsheets and presentations to your blog? Think ThinkFree Office Online.

Bloglines

Bloglines is a FREE online service that helps you subscribe to and manage lots of web information, such as news feeds, weblogs and audio. Bloglines tracks the information you're interested in, retrieves new stuff as it happens.

We hope this New Year brings a lot of happiness and cheer to you and your loved ones. We also would like to thank all of you for all the incredible support and encouragement.

2006 has been our first little steps in the Web 2.0 world and it has been exhilarating so far. We hope to continue in the same vein for the coming year. The constant inputs, suggestions and applications from you people; our readers, really enthuses us and pushes us to do more.

We have lots going on behind the scenes, at NEO Binaries. We have just launched 'cyn.in' our company’s flagship product and therefore we were inundated with work and not able to devote our attention to NEO Binaries completely. Now with the successful launch of cyn.in, NEO Binaries will get our undivided attention once again. We are working hard on a big release, with increased listings, some new features (user submitted applications, polls, user driven features, etc) to enhance the user experience and a possible redesign. So expect a lot more from your favorite site in the New Year! Also don’t forget to fire in your suggestions and ideas.

To wrap up the last year, here are our top 5 articles for the year gone by.

1) 5 Firefox extensions you can't live without!

2) An Interview with Jonathan Crow, Director of Marketing, ThinkFree Online

3) The Long and the Short of it - Long Tail theory simplified

4) Your Guide to Choosing the Right Photo-Sharing Application
