cyn.in is a Collaborative Information Management Service for the Enterprise.
cyn.in finally opened it's doors for all its customers with much fanfare on the 26th September. There has been a lot of speculation in the blogosphere with cyn.in's technology being able to match the quality of the marketing strategy. All those doubts have been put to rest, after the launch. We took an in depth look at cyn.in and we feel proud to be part of such an enterprise revolution.
Before we do a full fledged review of cyn.in and also an interview with the creator of cyn.in, himself; we wanted you to get an idea of what exactly is cyn.in. The concept, the applications and how would cyn.in benefit you. In short, we decided to give you a quick tour of cyn.in.
So, What is cyn.in?
cyn.in (pronounced: "sign-in") is a
service that allows teams, companies or communities to manage,
organize, store, version, search through, collaborate & discuss
upon, share and publish any kind of information or data. cyn.in
can manage all your rich content, audio, video, images, documents,
presentations, spreadsheets, drawings, archives and any type of files. A note can have rich
textual content with inline images in it, and any kind of files that
are attached to it. You can think of a note as a blog post, or a wiki
page or a folder of files
What are cyn.in notes?
All your content is simply represented as a note. A note can have rich textual content with inline images in it, and any kind of files that are attached to it. All your notes that are only accessible by you are present in the Personal notes section.
Once you have created your note you can choose to share it with people in your team or publish it in the Intranet space for people in your organization to see it or publish in it in the web space that can be your blog or your company website.
cyn.in has an upperhand compared to other traditional enterprise applications with the SaaS delivery model and the ease of use. cyn.in strikes the right balance of being open and closeness that an enterprise demands. Enterprise knowledge cannot be opened for all. It has to be disseminated in a similar hierarchical fashion as the organizational structure. And cyn.in achieves it very easily. You can get started with cyn.in in less than 3 hours.
What are SlashTags?
SlashTags
allow you to organize your notes.
SlashTags create a hierarchical
structure by letting you nest tags using slashes (the character: /).
For example: you can create a tag called human-resources and also have human-resources/manuals. You can add
as many SlashTags to a note as you wish, and put in as many subsections
(slashes) as you like. There is no restriction to the growth of the
SlashTags structure.
A SlashTag can be a page with many notes having the same SlashTag. So you can have a SlashTag in your blog called /Geekism and under that have all your blog posts on your devices with the same SlashTag.
A SlashTag can also be a category with many other sub-categories or SlashTags with many notes in each category. So you can create your media repository with pictures from your re-union trip to Paris tagged /Gallery/Personal/Vacation/Paris as well as /Gallery/Personal/School Reunions/2006
SlashTags give you the benefit of an organically
growing, bottom up approach to organizing your information without duplicating your content.

Introducing: the Dashboard

overview of all recent activity within your site. The dashboard has 2
sections currently, namely: Updates- Which lists out the newest
