All of you know that Solid State disks have now been launched and still available in limited size, not more than 120Gb i presume.
What i think is the reason behind was the consortium of manufacturers of platter based Hard Disks who held the manufacturers of flash drive like transcend to delay the launch of these drives.
The reason is that the hard disk is the least secure thing in the computer. People were fooled when they were given notebook with the same platter based hard disks. They were not told they were not supposed to carry those notebooks here and there otherwise they risk a danger to their data.
Hard Disk manufacturers may be having some patents or trade rights by which they can rule the storage market for a stipulated number of years.
I think this technology of solid state disks was not rocket science and not something out of the pandora box which took so many years to commericialize. we are having these disks now that is in 2008, whereas pen drives and flash based drives were as early as 2000 (i think so) and may be before that
What r ur views on it?
